Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track in Information Management/Information Systems
The University of Washington Information School invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track in in Information Management/Information Systems.
The Information School is an interdisciplinary faculty - we encourage our faculty to explore information-based approaches to understand and address systemic challenges and to make a positive social impact. This position will engage in creative, collaborative and forward-thinking research and teaching with the rest of our faculty in forging a more just and sustainable future. This position is expected to primarily contribute to research and teaching in information systems topics at the graduate and undergraduate level.
The successful applicant will be expected to engage in research in the Information Systems discipline, including but not limited to:
- Data management,
- Information Systems strategy,
- Enterprise systems,
- Information Systems Architecture
Of particular interest are application areas such as Artificial Intelligence in organizations, IS for Health, and IS for Sustainability. The successful candidate will be encouraged to augment the educational mission of the iSchool’s highly ranked degree programs in preparing future information professionals to develop and use information technologies responsibly.
The position is a full-time 9-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1st 2026, contingent upon funding approval. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. This position will be expected to:
- Conduct high-quality research
- Seek and acquire extramural funding for research
- Engage with the University of Washington Information School’s strategic commitments to one or more of the following areas:
- (1) promote equity in health & wellbeing
- (2) encourage environmental sustainability and resilience
- (3) foster a more informed, just, and equitable democratic society.
- (4) responsibility in artificial intelligence
- Teach and lead curriculum development in our graduate courses in our MSIM Curriculum, as well as (as needed by the school) PhD-level and undergraduate courses in their area of specialization. Standard teaching load will be of 4 classes per 9-month academic year.
- Perform service that furthers the mission of the Information School and the University of Washington more broadly.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD (or foreign equivalent) degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Management, Information Science, or a closely related field by the date of appointment. Applicants must have expertise and a strong record of research and high quality teaching in Artificial Intelligence in organizations, IS for Health, and/or IS for Sustainability.
